Newborough Teacher Training Institute is registered with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities as a Private Career College, P.C.C. #103181.
Newborough Teacher Training Institute has applied for accreditation of its Montessori Early Childhood certification course from the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE).
The Institute offers an undergraduate course of study in the Montessori Method of Education for children ages 2 ½ through 6 years. A diploma and transcript will be awarded upon successful completion of the course.
History
Newborough Teacher Training Institute was formerly known as Newborough Training College in the U.K. In 1980, with the assistance of Sybil Taylor, an experienced Montessori teacher and lecturer, Newborough Teacher Training College was established in Canada and certified as a post-secondary vocational institution in the Province of Ontario. The college has graduates in the U.K., Canada, South East Asia, South America, Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Spain. Miss Dorothy Prior, Director of Newborough Training College, traveled to Canada, for over 20 years, to conduct training courses and examinations. Miss Prior retired in January 2006 at the age of 83 and sadly, passed away in November 2007.
